Healthcare Scientists in Scotland
The Scottish Government policy document “Safe Accurate & Effective: An Action Plan for Healthcare Science in NHS Scotland” has now been published and can be accessed from the Scottish Healthcare Science (SHS) website. This sets out a range of actions to be implemented including extensive recommendations to improve education and training for healthcare science staff with prioritisation for clinical technologists. The Action Plan also requests each NHS Board to establish a local Healthcare Scientist Area Forum and include specific responsibility for HCS in the remit of a Board member.
The SHS website can be found at:
http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/Health/NHS-Scotland/HealthcareScience/contents
The website includes details of Professional Leads and other contacts in each Health Board area and a link to the Scottish Forum for Healthcare Science.
Action Plan for Healthcare Scientists
The “Action Plan for Healthcare Scientists” in Scotland will be launched by the Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing. Details have still to be confirmed but this will take place in a healthcare science department on 26 November 2007.
